Olympus E-450 a small incremental improvement over the E-420

olympus_e-450

The newly announced Olympus E-450 comes to replace the existing E-420 that we covered in 2008. This is indeed a quick replacement. The competition in the entry DSLR segment is fierce, with competitors like the Canon 1000D, the Pentax K-m, or even from inside the 4/3 universe via the Micro 4/3 Panasonic DMC-G1 and its newer video capable version.

The improvements are small. Three new art filters, a Truepic III+ processor, a larger buffer (8 instead of 6 RAW images) and an improved non-specified display. Nothing great to write home about but enough to look specifically for the E-450 instead of the E-420 if you are looking for a small and complete entry DSLR. It seems that Olympus is keeping true to its megapixel count word and concentrates on improving its existing range.
