FireWire to USB2 cable lets you transfer video to any PC

If you still have a videocamera/camcorder that utilises FireWire (IEEE 1394) but are stuck with a laptop without that type of connection, it is a serious dead end. Desktops can easily (and cheaply) have a FireWire PCI card upgrade, but with a laptop this simply cannot be done (internally).

Pixela is coming to the resque with its FireWire-to-USB2 DV transfer cable. Just put it between your camcorder and your PC’s USB2 port and you are ready to work as normal. At €90 (at today’s conversion rate from dollars) it is not a cheap option, but certainly one that will guarantee that you do not have to solely rely on your initial storage medium (especially tape). Plus the cable is bundled with the ImageMixer 2.0 software, to edit your takes to something nicer and more watchable.
