Ikonoskop’s very different A-cam dll 1080p camcorder

1080p video might have become an everyday occurrence coming from all directions. We have typical camcorders or now even DSLRs like the new Canon 5D Mk II. However, very simply put, Ikonoskop’s A-cam dll is a very different design coming from Sweden.

The CCD is 10.6mmx6mm (Super-16), while the frame rate is adjustable to anything up to 60fps. Colour depth is 12 bits and the body accommodates a wide variety of lens for everybody’s liking. It records at 1920×1080p on a unique 80 GB flash memory at 240MB/sec, almost twice as fast as the closest thing marketed today.

That means just 12 minutes of uncompressed RAW footage, and lots of those presumably very expensive sticks. The pre-order price is €6,950 with a delivery sometime before the end of the year. This luckily includes one battery, a 9mm lens and one memory cartridge.

Comparing this Ikonoskop product to anything on the market would be very risky. It is much below (in terms of resolution and price) anything that Red produces, while it is clearly distanced from the consumer mass produced models of established names. In fact prosumer cameras are more like the area where it belongs (in terms of price at least), so of course it would be very interesting to see a direct comparison with such videocameras.
