Stores with open doors. Is online exposure enough?

Energy waste is among us, and it is not a TV on stand-by… Stores leave their doors open Summer and Winter in the hope of attracting more customers. In the meantime, coal and nuclear plants work overtime to keep up with unnecessarily high energy demands…

The Racked site has a special section called This Store Blows for readers to put pictures and expose New York stores responsible for the waste. A good idea, but I am afraid it is not only New York where this happens. It is a universal phenomenon, in cities, towns and villages, therefore exposure online could bring so much reader fatigue that possibly nobody would bother much anymore.

In my opinion the best and cleanest solution would be to introduce legislation that prohibits shops from leaving their doors open, much like it is illegal to throw garbage anywhere we like. I do not see it coming very soon, at least we know that those high summer clothes prices go to cover those silly air-conditioning costs…
