30 German offshore parks to produce 11GW of wind energy

The German government is planning the construction of 30 offshore wind turbine parks that will produce 11GW of clean energy. Construction will take place on both the North Sea and the Baltic, with a total of about 2000 wind turbines.

Today wind energy covers 7% of Germany’s power needs and plans call for the enhancement of capacity to reach a 30% of total energy needs via clean power by 2030.

Wind might seem a more primitive energy source than photovoltaic cells and hydrogen, however it is with us and not only nobody ignores it, but it is a major part of alternative energy plans. Countries like Portugal put wind turbines in the center of their energy and industrial renaissance.

And while global capacity is this year exceeding 100GW, countries that already use nuclear power have a huge dilemma whether to modernise existing nuclear plants, build new ones, or try to replace them with other types of energy generation. With current oil prices, wind energy is an attractive proposition and we sincerely hope that together with solar it will quickly replace polluting plants.
