GigaOM has a very interesting interview of Michael Dell, the founder and CEO of Dell. The questions are quite direct and Michael Dell is not hiding behind his finger. He makes it very clear that desktops, laptops and notebooks remain the core of Dell’s business.
On cloud computing, Dell is participating in the infrastructure but it [...]

For the time being, this blog does not feature unboxing videos. But since every rule has its exception and the Nikon D700 is such an awaited full-frame body, watching a two minute video on such an exciting product is nothing but irresistible.

While back in January we were wondering if SP1 would help Windows Vista sales, the real deal for Microsoft was to not only iron out bugs, but to mainly improve a not-so-great public image. Pressure on Vista is unprecedented and comes from everywhere:
Apple which has taken the predictable direct comparison route.
Businesses and professionals that work [...]

A few days back I lost my Canon 400D eyepiece -after cleaning it and absent mindedly forgetting it somewhere :-( Finding no help in the wonderful Greek retailers that only want to get boxes out the door without bothering for client support after that, my only choice was Intersys, the importer of Canon in Greece.
When [...]

ElectronRun has already talked about the progress of Project Better Place in Israel and Denmark. Portugal is quite restless these days and apart from renewable energy sources is looking at other ways to become environmentally friendlier.
Despite the huge limitations of Project Better Place, Portugal will investigate its viability for the near future. Again we are [...]

This story is me reminding of another real story of how my ex-boss started to use computers back in the 90s. His boss called him to his office, threw at him a laptop and gave him four weeks to learn using wordprocessing, emailing and all skills necessary at the time for effective electronic communication.
Apparently Russian [...]

The Canon 1000D has been rumoured, announced and released in record time. In previews years, when Canon was the undisputed leader of all DSLR categories, we would have to be grilled all summer till the Photokina official announcement. A month ago I wrote an post titled 5 questions posed by the arrival of netbooks, in which two of the five questions were:
Why traditional notebooks are so expensive?
What distinguishes netbooks from laptops apart from size?
Apparently these two questions are becoming a major headache for big PC manufacturers and are destined to keep them occupied [...]

Following its success in exceeding the Bugatti Veyron’s top speed record, Shelby Supercars (SSC) goes one level up to establish itself as a green supercar champion. Tesla’s statement has certainly not gone unnoticed. We have for example written about the Hybrid Technologies sports car, as well as Audi’s electrical aspirations. But Shelby’s plans are on [...]

Dell is not exactly the most responsive kid in town so the fact that they offer SSDs as an option at a reasonable price is quite an event. We are talking about 128GB solid state drives for the XPS, Alienware and Precision laptop lines at an extra cost of $600.
Dell is rightly not going for [...]

I am not sure that this is the product of Phase One’s cooperation with Mamiya, but Phase One has timed its announcement really well. Just when Hasselblad announces a 50Mp sensor, Phase one slams it with a 60Mp model! It comes in the usual medium format package and you get a stunning 1fps.
This time we [...]

Following its top of the range H3II-39, Hasselblad goes one step even further with its H3II-50 and its 50Mp resolution. The new medium format model is the result of collaboration on the sensor front with Kodak. Apparently, there will also be a 50Mp sensor for the 645 format.
I don’t even want to think of the [...]
