Canon 1000D/Rebel XS spec as cheap as expected
So the Canon Rebel XS/1000D seems to be arriving to compete with the cheap lineups of the likes of Olympus, Sony, Nikon and Pentax. I have already written my feeling that going lower than the 450D/XSi is not a necessity for Canon.
But here we are with some indicative spec. So what are we most likely to get?
- 10 megapixel CMOS chip.
- Liveview.
- 450D-like menus.
- Digic III processor.
- 7-point auto-focus.
- 3 frames per second continuous rate (not specified for what file format).
- 2.5 inch LCD.
- Weight of 540 grams.
Impressed? I am certainly not. So Cannon better makes it dead cheap. But then again all these features already exist in competing models that also include sensor shake reduction as standard.
Hey Canon, I now have to put all my hopes into the 5D Mk II arrival at Photokina in September. And how about making full-frame more attainable for us mortals? What are you waiting for?
