Lego Indiana Jones and Lego Batman most anticipated 2008 games

Source: IGN

What is for you the most anticipated game this year? GTA IV? For me not really. I can tell you from now that the two new Lego games are top of my list. As Yahoo! Games reports, Lego Indiana Jones is going to hit shelves this May and Lego Batman will arrive later this year.

If you have played Lego Star Wars I & II, I am sure you will agree with me, together with all those fans that made them number 10 and number 3 games in 2005 and 2006 respectively. Here is a list why I think the new Lego games are highly anticipated:

  • Lego is great! The fact that characters, objects, buildings, virtually everything is made of Lego bricks makes for superb, simple, clean graphics that do not overload graphics cards. At least this has been the case with Lego Star Wars and I hope that it will be again so with the new games.
  • The Lego series retains some of that mystical feeling of the first days of Commodore 64 gaming. Creativity and fun take first role and make stages incredibly playable for any age again and again. Cutting edge graphics are great but nothing is like good humour and fun! When was the last time a game stage made you laugh outloud?
  • All Lego games are based on characters that are instantly recognised and loved by all of us. Who does not like Indiana Jones and Batman? Unless you have been hiding in the jungle for the last decades, it is certain you already know what these games are about.
  • The two new games will incorporate better multi-player features, something that will make them even more playable. Check out the XBox 360 Lego Batman preview.

The new Lego games will cover PC and all consoles, something that will further increase their appeal and boost chances of commercial success. The fact that they tread on known ground does not bother me at all. Gaming should be fun and this is why I cannot wait for May and Lego Indiana Jones…
