Songkick wants to get you back to concerts

If you grow old and cannot follow live shows any more, Songkick is your chance to bounce back and start enjoying again the essence of music. Register and find out where your favourite band is playing, when it is coming to your town, or how to easily book a ticket.

The Guardian has a short and interesting audio interview with Ian Hogarth, the site’s CEO. Answering to the question on how the site will be able to make money, he convincingly answered that Songkick will be able to get a commission for tickets booked via the site.

Having a specialised center of info for music is a good idea. However, competition from sites that have resolved their income issues can be awesome. First of all you get the generalist news sites that also inform about music festivals and all kinds of events. Another option is the band sites themselves, where one can find everything on their favourite musicians without going much further.

The real fun will be when MIDs or UMPCs -or whatever you want to call them- become so commonplace so that all this process will be done from a cafe, a car or by simply on the way to the venue!
