Is Lumenlab’s Q all-in-one proposition worth $10,000?

Are you worried how to get your PC multimedia content to your TV? Worry no more because Lumenlab has taken a drastic measure to satisfy you, it is actually bringing to the market a device that is HDTV and PC at the same time! Everything comes integrated in a slick 3.5 inch thick aluminium box. The 42 inch display is 1080p while the integrated PC consists of:

  • Asus P5E3 Deluxe WiFi-AP motherboard.
  • Overclocked Intel Qx9650 processor to 3.3 GHz.
  • Overclocked Nvidia 8800 768 MB DDR3 RAM graphics card.
  • 4 GB of DDR3 RAM.
  • WiFi including 802.11 n.
  • 2 Ethernet GB ports that can be combined.
  • All necessary digital audio-video connections.
  • 3 TB of hard-disc storage.
  • Blu-ray optical drive.
  • Silent cooling.
  • 200 Mbps Hotwire capability for home networking via your home’s electrical network.

It all costs $10,000 -I am so glad they did not dare make it $9,999. Touch screen capability is an extra $1,500 but hey is this not a TV? Lumenlab’s site states that larger screen sizes are also available but no extra info is given. So what do you think? $10,000 is a lot of cash. The idea is good and before you think prematurely have in mind that if a PC of the above calibre and a 42 inch 1080p screen were purchased separately it would surely cost a lot, you could easily blow above 5 or 6K depending on your brand choice. Upgrading of the PC part of the beast will not be necessary for at least 2 or 3 years and connectivity options are quite rich. I do not know, it is not within poor electronrun’s purchasing limits but if I had the cash I would definitely consider buying a Q.
